Hot, muggy, work, boring

To make life easier for you, I have named each paragraph in this post, so you can just skip to the bits that interest you. Don’t say I’m not good to you.

Update/summary

Well, been back in Kathmandu for a bit now and getting bored of it again. The toyboy has gone to Thailand. I’ve been getting some work done. I reckon I’ve got another week’s worth I have to do, and then I’m flying to Bangkok.

A defence of this course of action

Yes, I know, but I decided I deserved a holiday from my stressful holiday, where I lie in a hammock drinking cocktails. Chris is scouting for such a location as we speak. And I’ve never been to Thailand, so it’s quite exciting. Yes Mum, I have malaria stuff.

This week

I’ve been writing an article about the revolution and the press this week, which is half done. And made vague efforts towards starting research for The Lancet piece. It’s hard to get much work done when you’re sitting in ‘Jazz garden café’ drinking banana lassies.

A word on deadlines

Also, the foolish people who have commissioned me have not given me any deadlines. As Phil pointed out earlier I am no good with deadlines. We all know this. However, I replied that I am even worse without them. I miss deadlines. But then if the deadline is a week, you’ll have it in two. With no deadline, you probably still won’t have it in four. Fortunately I have now given myself a deadline in the form of a plane ticket to Bangkok. Thank goodness for random impulse, sometimes it makes it look like you have a plan.

NOT procrastination!

So, anyway, I had decided to do some catching up. Tell you more stuff about trekking, etc. Relate the dread tale of the short cut and the leeches. Craft some witty repartee about the Kathmandu rubbish collection strike. Stuff like that. But I’ve just realised that I really should be doing other stuff. Perhaps I have now become a responsible adult like other people? Actually, come to think of it, I am writing this from Kathmandu, so probably not…

Anyway, much love all,

Soph
